2011 Reading Challenge

Well, the new year has started and the first month is nearly halfway through already! It will be Christmas again before we know it.

Anyway I have decided to set myself up a challenge for the year to expand on my reading material. Last year I spent a lot of time reading my fave genre of paranormal romance. Unfortunately a lot seemed to be in the teenage section of the library... not sure what that says about me!

This year I plan to read 50 books over the year, which is not quite one a week. This should be achievable. I'm not sure how many I read last year, but if it is a really good book I can finish it in a day or two. To make it a bit more challenging I am going to set myself a goal of reading one book off the 1001 books to read before you die list each month. I will avoid those that I have read in the past and if I don't complete the book then it doesn't count.

I will post the books I have read on my Goodreads page, for anyone that is interested. I may come on here to add any that were particularly worthwhile.

One book that I finished a week ago was Twitchhiker. It was the funniest book that I have read in a very long time. It also highlighted the need to step outside of my normal reading comfort zone.

Hopefully in the next 11 and half months I will have many such enjoyable reads!
